10 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
1 cup white sugar
1 Tbl. all purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 cup apple juice
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In large mixing bowl, toss apples with the sugar, 1 Tbl. flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into a 13x9 baking dish. Pour apple juice over all.
In another bowl, combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar & cinnamon. Stir in the melted butter. Crumble evenly over the top of the apple mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Have you tried adding 1/4 tsp Mapeline to the topping mixture (I add it to melted butter before mixing with oats/sugar etc). Can you even get Mapeline down there?
