1 c, powdered sugar
1 c. butter, softened
2 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 c. shredded coconut
few drops red food color
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
about 48 milk chocolate Hershey candy kisses
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, cherry juice, almond extract, and food color; blend well. Stir in flour, salt, and coconut. Mix well. Stir in chopped cherries. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly brown. Remove from oven and immediately press a candy kiss into the top of each cookie. Remove to wire rack to cool.
Makes 4 dozen.
